New Film Music for HBO Documentary
Carolina Eyck composed and recorded the soundtrack for the HBO documentary Wild Inside, directed by Penny Lane.
The film tells the remarkable true story of Flaco, the Eurasian Eagle Owl who escaped from the Central Park Zoo in New York City. What began as a rescue operation soon became a movement supporting his right to live freely in the city. While designing the film's musical soundscape, Carolina drew inspiration from recordings of Flaco's own hoots and other bird sounds, transforming them into instruments she could compose with.
Wild Inside premieres in Central Park on July 29 and opens in selected theaters on July 31, beginning with the IFC Center in New York City. Learn more here.

Theremin
Leon Theremin
The theremin is an electronic musical instrument invented by the Russian physicist Leon Theremin in 1920. The fact that it is played without physical touch makes it particularly unique.
A theremin typically consists of a box with two metal antennas which create electromagnetic fields. The antennas recognize the position of the musician and by changing their hand positions and the distance to the instrument, sound is controlled. The upright antenna controls the pitch. The higher the right hand approaches the antenna, the higher the pitch gets. The loop antenna enables the musician to control the volume, making the volume softer as they get closer to it.
