With its Halloween program, Kammerata Luxembourg invites audiences into a world of mystery, enchantment, and the supernatural. Shadow Worlds combines chamber music, literature, and contemporary soundscapes to create an immersive experience in which reality gradually gives way to imagination.
At the heart of this extraordinary evening is guest artist Carolina Eyck, one of the world’s leading thereminists. Her instrument – played entirely without touch, yet capable of extraordinary expressiveness – guides the audience through a soundscape of ghostly tones, hidden presences, and unsettling beauty.
As the evening unfolds, witches, spirits, and dark legends emerge from the shadows. Texts by Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Henry James, and Guy de Maupassant intertwine with music by Debussy, Mussorgsky, Britten, Ligeti, Saariaho, Philip Glass, and others to create a richly atmospheric narrative. Dream and reality begin to blur, transformations take shape, and the invisible suddenly seems almost within reach.
